Vallarta Adventures is committed to giving back to the community through active contribution of time and money to important ecological and social programs. We support a variety of causes, all aimed at enriching the lives of those who live in and visit Puerto Vallarta, while helping to make this a better world for future generations.
Casa Hogar
We regularly invite children from the local orphanage, Casa Hogar, to participate in Vallarta Adventures boat cruises and other activities. In addition to Casa Hogar, we regularly welcome students from lower income schools aboard our boats in an effort to share these excursions with children who may not otherwise have the opportunity to experience the natural wonders in Banderas Bay.
Niños de la Calle (Children of the Street)
For many years, Vallarta Adventures has been a proud participant in the ongoing Niños de la Calle program. Coordinated by the Municipality of the Bay of Banderas, this program brings low income children from the inner cities to the ocean, where we provide participants with boat tours and other outdoor activities.
Toys For Tots
Each and every year, Vallarta Adventures joins forces with the American Consular Agency, The Navy League and the Mexican Armed Forces to distribute thousands of toys donated by the Toys for Tots organization on Kings Day - January 6th. Our 4 x 4 Unimogs, Cessna aircraft and dozens of volunteers ensure that gifts donated by charities throughout the USA and Mexico reach hundreds of poor families in the most remote areas of Jalisco and Nayarit. In 2004 alone the program was successful in distributing over 30,000 toys to needy children in rural areas throughout the region.
Sustaintable Development
Vallarta Adventures also participates in a variety of programs aimed at the preservation and conservation of local wildlife. By protecting the local plants and animals that we encounter on all of our tours, encouraging breeding to try to bring back endangered species and making people aware of their place in a healthy environment, we believe we are doing our part to promote animal rescue, forest and habitat conservation, research, and environmental education.
Enviromental Education Programs
Since 1998, we have operated a special enviromental education program wherein several days a week we invite children from different public schools to spend the mornings with us and participate in special programs that focus on marine mammals preservation projects.
Islas Marietas
Vallarta Adventures is spearheading the effort to have the Islas Marietas declared a protected natural preserve by the federal government of Mexico, by completely funding the necessary studies, and overseeing the process of proposal. We are providing the services of a noted biologist, and are working in conjunction with SEMARNAP (Secretaría del Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales y Pesqueros), Nayarit Office, to bring this proposal to the national level.
Animal Protection Association
Our company supports the efforts of the Puerto Vallarta Animal Protection Association through contributions to local pet and stray animal spaying, as well as community education programs.
Humpback Whale Protection
Vallarta Adventures is constantly working alongside governmental agencies and wildlife organizations in their attempts to protect the migrating Humpback Whales that visit Puerto Vallarta each winter. Since 1997 we have managed to help increase the numbers of humpbacks in the Bay of Banderas through the enforcement of official dates for the whale watching season; certification of guides and policing the Bay. Over the years, we have rehabilitated many stranded dolphins and sick marine birds as well as rescued humpback whales caught in fishing nets. Our modern facilities and highly trained marine mammal experts ensure that Puerto Vallarta has the resources to help in any situation.
Beach & Bay Clean Up
Clean beaches and waters are among the true treasures of Puerto Vallarta, and here at Vallarta Adventures we understand the importance of keeping the beaches clean for generations to come. We have provided financial support to the Puerto Vallarta Beach & Bay Clean Up, a non-profit organization that holds semi-annual beach clean-up and environmental awareness campaigns. In addition to supporting the Teacher's Environmental Educational workshops, our employees also actively participate in the beach clean-ups.
Recycling Program
 In 2007, Vallarta Adventures began an aggressive recycling campaign to further protect our environment. We now have recycle bins to separate waste and all of the plates, cups and utensils we use on all of our tours and in our offices are either biodegradable or reusable. Vallarta Adventures is currently working on developing a close alliance with the World Wildlife Fund, in order to assist in this effective environmental group's fundraising efforts.
Our Staff members are regularly invited to speak on topics of ecotourism and environmental responsibility at the local campus of the University of Guadalajara.
As a company, Vallarta Adventures is a community leader in the movement to recycle within Puerto Vallarta. We use recyclable materials wherever possible, and encourage recycling on our boats and tours. | |
